Rheumatology conference

On my way to Paris for #EULAR14, Europe’s biggest annual rheumatology conference.  13,000 scientists, doctors, other health professionals and patient organisations are expected from 125 countries.  Key topics this year include biosimilars, biomarkers for early diagnosis, new diagnostic instruments and new data on more targeted therapies.

Online medical presentation skills

Good meeting in the UK today, demonstrating LionsDen’s online training programme for #medicalpresentationskills.  Very attentive crowd at medical education agency. It’s very interactive, uses lots of video and questions, and can be used before or after our face to face training. It’s proving very popular. Details here:

Targeted drugs offer hope

At ASCO in Chicago working with a client whose #lungcancer drug has just reported an increase of over a year in Overall Survival…if you have a particular genetic mutation.  More evidence of the growing influence and application of targeted treatment in cancer. It also shows how accurate diagnostic testing and the search for  predictive biomarkers are as important as the drugs themselves.  I guess this is one part of the answer to my question yesterday about how things have changed since the first #ASCO 50 years ago.
